Sportarena Streetball Team
We want to turn this thing into one of the most important streetballs in the world, where people could play ball, dunk and party like nowhere else. We are very serious abouth this tournament and we guarantee you that Sportarena 2010 would be way better than it was in 2009.
Sport Arena Streetball 2008 by Timex - Stage 1
Incredible show on Politehnica playgrounds!
One week-end to remember at Sport Arena Streetball by Timex! The duel between the French from Slam Nation (the brothers Yann and Brice de Blaine, Guy Dupuy ) and the Americans Troy McCray and Ken Golden Child (Flying 101) made the crowd stand, the Romanian basketball fans had the opportunity to see live some masterpieces. The legendary 35 years old dunker, Kadour Ziani, was an "one man show", he entertained the crowd, he made demonstrations above the rim, he dunked with himself and showed how poetry is written in respect of dunks by hitting a ball stuck in the rim with his foot. The Frenchman taught everyone a streetball and life lesson that by surpassing one’s limits one may turn dreams into reality!
Show, no words!
After the Harlem Globetrotters a shook Romania, the show basketball was brought back in Romania at Sport Arena Streetball by Timex. For more than a hour we forgot about all the clips view and reviewed on youtube.com and we lived the moment. The "Father" Kadour Ziani gathered his children and put them to work after he opened the show. Guy Dupuy (n.a. the former champion) managed to win the contest impressing with many dunks such as behind the back, over 3 people standing, over 6 people sitting, over a motorcycle, over a car, over the imagination of the ones present! He managed to break the rim, one of the installations broke at one of Guy "Easy jumper" Dupuy’s dunks! The Americans were not less impressive, Ken Golden Child being able to kiss the rim and McCray proved the greatest creativity His jumps and dances before the dunks amused the crowed all asking “what will be next?
VIPs on the jury and on the court
The jury of the dunk contest was Alin Savu, the first Romanian basketball player drafted in an European All Star Game, Virgil Stanescu (capitan of the Romania men’s basketball team), Cristina Ciocan (member of the women national basketball, player of Salamanca in Spain) and Andrei Capusan (player at CS Otopeni). Also the level at the category +18 years was increased due to the present at pro basketball players that entered into 3 on 3 games. (n.a. for example Cristian Craciun from CSU Sibiu).
Due to the high number of teams and the rain showers the games were until midnight the one that were tired benefited from a free massage from Ben-Gay, one of the sponsors of the tournament.
Sunday they voted basketball!
Sunday over 1000 people voted basketball preferring sport over the elections. A morning show for kids for their day, the demonstration of the people with disabilities, an all star game and interesting games played outside and inside because of the rain. The opening was done and now everybody is waiting for the next basketball weekend in Politehnica that shall take place in two weeks.
For the first time in Romania the registration was made online on the site www.3la3.ro. The results of the registration process were poster in due time and the limit of 200 teams was exceeded. There were awesome games the only regret was that the first place was awarded to two teams Dulaii and Giants, the referee named rain declaring a draw.
As promised the organizers along with the Romanian Basketball Federation and the sponsors awarded the little basketball players as they deserved. The legendary French dunker Kadour Ziani opened the show of dunks at a rimed placed at 2,60 meters, each kid feeling the great sensation of dunks. The captain of the national basketball team, Virgil Stanescu (player at Unics Kazan - Russia) gave prizes to all and gave autographs and took pictures. The Center was the giant of the kids that dream to follow his steps in the future.
The All Star Game was the moment of the day on the court responsible for the show being the dunker Guy Dupuy from Slam Nation, the Americans from Flying 101, the Spanish streetballer nicknamed ¨The Lawyer¨, Virgil Stanescu, the referee Mihai Sandulache, Svetlana Dragusin (one of the best Romanian players) and Catalin Vlaicu (Rapid Bucuresti). We could see great plays each player giving his best performance.
Even if all rain drops fell over the sport courts at Politehnica, the last day at Sport Arena Streetball by Timex was a success. We are hopping that the next tournament to be as good as this one and to bring joy to basketball fans the phenomenon Sport Arena Streetball having the opportunity to develop with your help!
To end: the registration for tournament 2 at Sport Arena Streetball by Timex! THE REGISTRATION BEGIN WITH THURDAY 5 OF JUNE AND ARE LIMITED TO 200 TEAMS!
